Cape Verde Islands

The Cape Verde Islands are located some 400 kms off Africa's west coast. They were discovered by the Portuguese in 1460, then still uninhabited.

The nine largest of the Cape Verde Islands are inhabited now. Santiago holds the largest population, and the Capital - Praia. Sal and Santiago (since 2005) hold international airports. The islands differ greatly in geography, population and culture.
